Mary Hurst was born in England, but has spent much of her life elsewhere, in particular India, and North and West Africa, finally coming to live in Portugal in 2004. The influence of these environments has strengthened her predilection for strong colour and pattern. She is primarily interested in the use of emotive colour as a form of expression. In Nigeria she taught art and worked as a freelance artist, designing murals and colour schemes for polychromatic architecture. A painter by training, she concentrates on print making and exhibits regularly at venues which include the Royal West of England Academy, Manchester Academy of Fine Art and at Printmakers Council exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom.
Mary Hurst nasceu em Inglaterra, mas passou a maior parte da sua vida noutros lugares, como a Índia, e o Norte e o Oeste da Africa, por finalmente vir viver para Portugal em 2004. A influência desses ambientes fortaleceu a sua predileção de cor forte e modelo. Ela ésta interessada no uso da cor emotiva como uma forma da expressão. Na Nigéria ela ensinou a arte e trabalhou como um artista independente, projetando quadros murais e esquemas em cores para arquitetura policromática. Pintora treinada, ela concentra-se na criação de impressão e expõe regularmente em todas as partes de Reino Unido inclusivemente o Royal West of England Academy, Manchester Academy of Fine Art e Printmakers Council.
